Selected REBOTNIX edge systems feature a Microchip ATSHA204A CryptoAuthentication™ chip soldered directly onto the mainboard. Combined with the NVIDIA Jetson GPU and all available add-ons, this enables you to build truly secure AI applications — without external security modules or additional hardware.
The REBOTNIX Crypto Software serves as the bridge between your application and the ATSHA204A. It provides a clean, easy-to-use API that lets you perform cryptographic operations directly from your code with just a few lines.
About the ATSHA204A
The Microchip ATSHA204A is a dedicated CryptoAuthentication device with protected hardware-based key storage. It is designed for secure symmetric authentication in both host and client configurations. Key technical specifications include:
- SHA-256 Hash Algorithm with support for both MAC (Message Authentication Code) and HMAC (Hash-Based Message Authentication Code) operations
- 256-bit key length with secure storage for up to 16 individual keys
- Guaranteed unique 72-bit serial number for unambiguous device identification
- High-quality random number generator (RNG) returning 32-byte (256-bit) random numbers
- I2C interface at speeds up to 1 Mb/s, plus Single-Wire Interface (SWI) option for reduced GPIO usage
- DeriveKey command for key rolling schemes — enabling dynamic, evolving key management
Hardware Security Features
The ATSHA204A includes multiple layers of physical and logical protection, making it extremely difficult to extract or tamper with stored keys:
- Active Shield — a protective mesh over the die that detects physical intrusion attempts
- Internal Memory Encryption — all keys are stored encrypted within the chip
- Glitch Protection — defends against clock and power glitch attacks designed to bypass security logic
- Voltage Tamper Detection — monitors for voltage manipulation attempts
- Internally generated clock and supply voltage — prevents direct attacks on the chip’s logic
