The RB THERMAL CAMERA CSI is an uncooled thermal imaging module for direct integration into the REBOTNIX Blade system. The sensor connects over CSI and delivers its stream straight to the carrier board as a MIPI signal, with no conversion stage in between.
The connection uses micro coax (ipex 20453-20). The stream runs onto the carrier board as a MIPI signal and reaches up to 60 Hz. No intermediate conversion stage is involved, which removes conversion latency and additional host load.
REBOTNIX provides driver support for the Blade system. The camera is intended for use in that platform and is fully integrated there. For operation on other carrier boards or third party platforms, please contact us in advance so we can work out the integration together.
The adapter board is not an accessory, it is an integral part of the camera. Instead of the usual unshielded 4 pin connector with 0.8 mm pitch, shielded connectors are used. This makes the module far less sensitive to electromagnetic interference, which in densely packed industrial installations and in unmanned aircraft is the difference between a stable image and an unusable one. At roughly 23 g, under 0.8 W power draw and a shock rating of 80 g at 4 ms, the camera also suits moving and weight critical applications.
The detector is an uncooled focal plane array based on vanadium oxide, operating in the 8 to 14 µm spectral range with a 12 µm pixel pitch. Thermal resolution is NETD ≤ 25 mK (f/1.0, 50 Hz, 300 K), so the camera resolves temperature differences well below a tenth of a degree. A mechanical shutter with automatic mode and non-uniformity correction (NUC) keep the image consistent over long operating periods.
The sensor resolves at 640 × 512 pixels. The lens has a 9 mm focal length with a field of view of 46.2° × 37.7°. This combination is built for detail recognition and longer measuring distances.
Several pseudo colour palettes are available (White Hot as default, plus Black Hot, Red Hot and Iron Red). Brightness, contrast and image enhancement are adjustable, and the digital zoom runs from 1x to 8x.
